Where do assessments take place?
What we will ask of you?
What part of Minnesota do we do assessments?
What happens during the assessment?
What happens after the assessment?
What are the fees for the assessment?
We feel that the best place to assess young children is in their natural environment which is their home, so that is where we do our assessments in the their home. Home is where the child is most comfortable. We ask that the assessment take place in a quiet area/room. Of course we are very child friendly and do everything we can to make a positive connection to obtain the most accurate results.
We want to only assess children that you as parents think are truly gifted, so we provide a questionnaire as to why consider your child as potentially gifted. It can be sent by email or through regular mail.
At the present time we are able to do assessments in all of Minnesota (weather permitting
of course) that includes metro, suburban and rural.
We will assess your child using standard educational measurements that are reliable and valid. It must be stated that because of the ages that we work, cognitive ability is somewhat of a relative term, if a child is truly gifted it should be indicated by the assessment tools that we use, however the exact scores do change and do become more accurate as a child grows older. We feel that there are enough indicators to identify children at these earlier ages looking at the whole child.
We will write a report of the results for you to keep and do as you wish with it. It will detail the results of the assessments, give some suggestions for proceeding to continue to help your child develop their cognitive abilities. You may want to use it to contact your school, use the results in your home with your child.
Our goal is assess children to determine their level of giftedness, so they are able to receive the best education and life experiences. We can discuss the fee on an individual basis as needed.
